Rx&D Sponsorship Guidelines - 2008
Thank you for thinking of Rx&D as a potential supporter. Due to the considerable number of requests that we receive, we can only support a select number of initiatives each year.
Because there is no end of worthy opportunities and our resources are limited, we look for proposals with clearly stated objectives that are aligned with Rx&D’s and where those opportunities present an opportunity for a longer-term partnership. We have developed the following guidelines to identify and prioritize the requests based on formal evaluation criteria and have posted them to help you determine whether your opportunity might be right for Rx&D.
Eligibility Criteria:
Priority will be given to key stakeholder groups such as:
- Patient and consumer groups
- Healthcare professionals
- Academic community
- Business community
- Life sciences sector
Funding Criteria:
1. Because of the large number of worthwhile opportunities available, Rx&D prefers projects and events that support innovation in Canada, in one of the following areas:
- Health and science education programs
- Disease awareness initiatives
- Scientific and academic events
- Projects that could contribute to either improving the health of Canadians or facilitating the debate about health care in Canada
- Programs that could be a potential model for other provinces and/or countries
- Activities that could have a significant impact on a large number of Canadians
2. Types of Funding and Amount of Support:
Rx&D supports organizations either by providing unrestricted grants or sponsorships up to $10,000. Applications for a higher amount will be considered, but reviewed on a case by case basis.
3. Special Considerations: Organizations seeking funding from Rx&D must:
- Ensure that their applications adhere to the Rx&D Code of Conduct and the Collaborative Partnership Guiding Principles.
- Explain how the funding request fits within a long term partnership framework with the industry. Keep in mind our Mission Statement. Proposals that can be evaluated based on issues of mutual interest, or have the potential for a longer-term connection with our association will be given greater emphasis.
- Accept that Rx&D, as of January 2008, will post on its website the names of organizations receiving funding from the association (you must check the box at the end of our application form).
- Be prepared to submit a brief follow-up report on the outcomes of the event or project.
- Be aware that proposals will be reviewed at the end of every quarter and must be received a minimum of 3 months ahead of your deadline.
Funding Restrictions:
As a general rule, Rx&D does not support:
- Arts & cultural programs, except those related to health education
- Individual attendance at conferences, seminars and similar activities
- Individuals
- Entertainment
- Support of fundraising or participatory events such as tournaments, auctions, benefits, dinners or other ticket purchases that are not elements of a broader arrangement or partnership
In addition:
- The Rx&D Code of Conduct prohibits us from providing gifts or promotional items
- Due to resource constraints, Rx&D does not buy booth space nor provide booths for trade shows
How to Apply:
Follow easy steps to apply for support from Rx&D:
- Read the Rx&D Overview and our eligibility and funding criteria to determine if your organization or project is aligned with our funding guidelines.
- Review Rx&D’s funding restrictions (i.e., projects and/or groups that are outside our guidelines) and ensure your proposal takes this into account.
- Download our Electronic Application Form complete all of the fields and submit it by email with the attachments requested in the form.
- Address all correspondence to the Vice President, Stakeholders & Partnerships at sponsorships@canadapharma.org
Once You Apply:
When we receive your application, you will receive an acknowledgement letter confirming receipt of your request. After we conduct a preliminary review of your application, we may contact you if we require additional information or clarification.
Applications will be reviewed quarterly, and must be received a minimum of 3 months before your deadline.
Due to the large volume of requests we receive, we are unable to respond to telephone, fax or e-mail inquiries regarding the status of your request. We appreciate your patience.
