Advertising & Information Dissemination - July 2005
Question 1:
I am working with a member company developing a product information
website (for doctors only). In order to inform the healthcare
professional that there is a web site for this product we
have developed a print “invitation” and a personally
addressed letter. The letter has been signed by two specialists
(doctors) in the field to inform the recipient that the content
has been reviewed by these specialists to help ensure accuracy.
During our review the PAAB reviewer has indicated that this
was a contravention of the spirit of the Rx&D code (S.
2.4). It is our feeling that this is a difference of opinion
in the interpretation of the code and would like your opinion
prior to proceeding.
Response:
The feedback from PAAB is indeed correct, as there is no way
to know whether the specialists are signing on behalf of the
company. Also note that the material to be used on this site
should follow the PAAB guidelines as well.
