Code of Conduct - Question & Answers
13. Advisory
Boards - April 2006
Question 1:
Rx&D's Code of Conduct Section 13.4 - Number of Advisory
Board members/consultants states that “Any advisory board/consultants
panel may not include more than 20 health care professionals
per meeting.” Are the chairperson and the
faculty of the meeting included in the limit of 20 health care
professionals?
Response:
No, the health care professionals who compose the chair and
the faculty of the advisory board or consultant panel are
not included in the limit of 20 health care professionals,
provided that the chair and faculty give neither advice nor
guidance to the Member company in the context of these meetings.
It is important to recall the overall purpose of advisory
boards/ consultant panels, as outlined in the Rx&D Guiding
Principles: “Advisory boards and consultants are only
to be used to gather scientific or commercial guidance.”
